Born in Oka, Madeleine Lemire now lives and works in Montreal. She studied at l’Ecole du Louvre in Paris, the Montreal School of Fine Arts, the Academy of Arts, and the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal.

She has taken part in several solo exhibitions in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Calgary and Victoria. She has more than 50 group exhibitions to her credit in Canada, France and the United States. She was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1996. Her works are part of numerous collections.

Madeleine Lemire is represented by a number of galleries, some of which include Michel-Ange Gallery and Dimension Plus Gallery in Montreal, Estampe Plus Gallery in Quebec City and Hollander York Gallery in Toronto.
